North Region Claims and Appeals: Where to Submit and Who to Call

On Jan. 1, 2018, the TRICARE North Region merged with the TRICARE South Region to become the new TRICARE East Region, managed by Humana Military (Humana). As the previous TRICARE North Region contractor, Health Net Federal Services, LLC (HNFS) has continued to process North Region claims and appeals, and answer related inquiries, for dates of service prior to Jan. 1, 2018. Per its agreement with the Defense Health Agency, HNFS’ North Region call center will close after March 31, 2018. Beneficiaries and providers in the new TRICARE East Region should contact Humana for all TRICARE inquiries beginning April 1, 2018.

Unique to this transition is that for the month of April 2018, previous TRICARE North Region claims and appeals with dates of service prior to Jan. 1, 2018, should still be submitted to HNFS for processing, even though Humana will answer any inquiries related to those submissions. Humana will process all previous North Region claims and appeals received on or after May 1, 2018, regardless of date of service.
